Toronto Rathayatra

ratharudho gacchan pathi milita-bhudeva patalaih
stuti-pradurbhavam prati-padam-upakarnya shadayah
daya-sindhur-bandhuh sakala-jagatam sindhu-sutaya
jagannatha svami nayana-patha-gami bhavatu me
When Jagannatha's Ratha-yatra cart is moving along the road, at every step assemblies of brahmanas sing His praises. Upon hearing them, Jagannatha, being an ocean of mercy and the true friend of all the worlds, becomes favourably disposed towards them -- may that Sri Jagannatha-deva be the object of my vision.

Jaganath, Baladev and Subadra Maharani have had Their snana, and are currently tucked away while They recuperate from the cold They caught :) The pujaris are taking extra special care of Them and by next week Saturday, They will be ready to give the whole of Toronto Their darshan :)

Heres the website for Torontos Rathayatra, if you need more info:

When my husband and I first met, he told me that the 'tunnel' is what makes Rathayatra in Toronto unique. Now I can't describe it much, because this is going to be my first time experiencing it, and I would not do justice to this ecstatic experience. But if I had to imagine...one low lying bridge/tunnel, thousands of people and a very ecstatic kirtan...that's enough to whet anyones appetite!

And if you're around, don't forget the Montreal Rathayatra up this weekend!! Tis the season of Rathayatra in North America, and taking full advantage of the Lords darshan and mercy is a great idea!! If you need some inspiration :

" By seeing the most merciful form of Lord Jaganath, mainly recognisable by His two large round eyes, one will make rapid spiritual progress and gain instant purification."

"If anyone follows the Rathayatra cart when the Deities pass in front or from behind, even if He is born of a lowly family, he can achieve opulence equal to that of Vishnu."

"By engaging in dancing and chanting, one can uplift ones soul beyond all meditations."

Jai Jagannath!!!
